Ways to Help New Hope for Kids

New Hope for Kids is an independent, locally based charity that focuses on support and enrichment for children in Central Florida. Our mission is to support children and families grieving the death of a loved one and to grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. There is no charge for our services, which makes donations critical to our programs.

There are several ways to help. One of these is to donate to our Wish Program. We take pride in being able to deliver our children’s dreams of traveling or partaking in an adventure they will be talking about for a lifetime. Their special wish is granted with their family and costs an average of $3,000. Individuals, corporations, and organizations are encouraged to sponsor a wish for a child. Anyone can take part through fundraising, donations, or hosting a wish. A community sponsor makes the event more special for the child and family, and provides everyone involved the opportunity to take part in making a child’s wish come true.

Another area where financial support is needed is our Center for Grieving Children. Here, children have the opportunity to meet peers with similar grief issues and engage in activities designed to move them through their journey. A child may play a game, or pretend to be a princess. They can create artwork or get their feelings and frustrations out in other positive ways. Our Grief Center allows our kids to be kids and have a fun place to play in a safe, enriching environment.

Many donors enjoy providing in-kind donations to the organization. On our website under the “Ways to Help” tab you will find detailed information on some of the items that we need regularly. These include: art supplies, paper products, gift cards and more. It is also helpful when businesses can provide services such as maintenance or lawn care for our Grief Center. In-kind donations, such as auction items for fundraising events, are always welcome. All in-kind donations help support our wish and grief programs by allowing us to focus funding on operating and program expenses.

We are a federally recognized 501c3 charitable organization, which makes many contributions tax deductible.
