New Hope for Kids was honored by the Maitland City Council on Children’s Grief Awareness Day. The recognition highlighted our dedication to helping children heal from loss through compassionate care and community support.

On Children’s Grief Awareness Day, New Hope for Kids received a special and heartfelt recognition from the Maitland City Council, an acknowledgment of the invaluable role we play in supporting children through the profound challenges of family loss and other hardships. We were truly honored by this recognition, which was made all the more meaningful by the personal attention and gratitude shown by Mayor John Lowndes and the members of the City Council.

The proclamation presented to us on this day underscores the importance of shining a light on the emotional and psychological struggles that children endure when faced with grief, trauma, or loss. Children, often feeling isolated and unsure of how to navigate their emotions, need compassionate and specialized care to help them process their pain and begin healing. This day, designated to raise awareness of children’s grief, brings much-needed focus to these often-overlooked challenges, and we are grateful to the mayor and the council for highlighting the work that New Hope for Kids does to support these young individuals.

The recognition not only honors our efforts but also serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility we share as a community to care for and nurture children during their most difficult times. With resources like grief support, art therapy, and peer support programs, New Hope for Kids offers a safe, welcoming space for children and their families to receive the care they need to heal, grow, and thrive. The city’s recognition of our work validates the importance of these services and encourages others to join in the effort to provide emotional and mental health support to children in need.

We are proud to stand alongside the Maitland community, alongside dedicated individuals and organizations, as we continue to offer hope, healing, and comfort to those facing the challenges of grief and loss. Together, we can help ensure that no child has to face these hardships alone, and that every child has the opportunity to heal and find joy again.
