What began as a simple tour of New Hope for Kids quickly turned into an unforgettable moment for our team. Members of the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation visited our facility to learn more about our mission. They wanted to understand the work we do to support children and families navigating grief and life-threatening illnesses through our grief support and wish-granting programs.
An Unforgettable Surprise
As the group walked through our spaces, taking in the rooms where healing happens every day, they paused and shared that there was more to the visit than just a tour. We started walking through the rooms, and then they said, ‘Wait, there’s something we want to do first…’
That moment led to the presentation of a generous $25,000 grant from the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation. It was a surprisingly special moment that deeply touched our team.
Seeing the Impact Firsthand
As the visit continued, the Foundation’s team experienced the heart of New Hope for Kids through the stories told on our walls. The artwork created by children in our programs, paired with their words, spoke volumes. While there were moments of lighthearted laughter along the way, it was the stories at the far end of the building that brought quiet tears.
In those moments, the depth and importance of this work became undeniable to everyone in the room.
Expanding Grief Support and Wish-Granting
Support from the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation helps ensure that children and families facing loss have access to safe spaces. Here, grief can be expressed, stories can be shared, and healing can begin. This incredible gift will allow New Hope for Kids to continue providing compassionate programs to families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
