Since 2008, communities throughout the country have observed Children’s Grief Awareness Day by shedding light on the needs of grieving children and the benefits they obtain through the support of others.
The challenges of a pandemic have made this year’s observance unique, and while a small group of active grief program families participate in a special New Hope for Kids’ candle-lighting ceremony and memorial walk, we invite you to observe this special day, as well.
Ways you can help raise awareness of the needs of grieving children:
Wear blue on November 19, 2020, in support of a grieving child. Take a picture of yourself in blue and send it to the family you’re honoring.
Share information about New Hope for Kids with the family of a grieving child. For those out of the Central Florida area, you can find resources around the country here: childrengrieve.org/find-support
Support your local grief center by volunteering, donating funds, or providing supplies and materials.
