Candle Lighting

Dealing with grief can be especially challenging during the holiday season. Candle Lighting Central Florida is a special event hosted by Vitas Innovative Hospice Care and New Hope for Kids. This holiday preparation event features voices of experience who will address concerns for the holidays and offer practical suggestions on dealing with the days and weeks ahead. The program also will offer time for personal reflection, sharing, music and a candle lighting ceremony that will inspire and bring peace to those who attend. All individuals in the Central Florida area that have experienced any form of loss are encouraged to come out and share in this very special evening.

When: Sunday, November 6, 2011, 4-5 p.m.
Where: The Maitland Civic Center
641 South Maitland Ave., Maitland 32751

Toy Drive

New Hope for Kids Holiday Toy Drive

As the holidays approach, New Hope for Kids begins the important task of filling Santa’s “BAG OF HOPE” with gifts for the kids.
New Hope for Kids’ goal each holiday season is to help provide gifts to the children and families in our grief and wish programs. In addition to the struggles caused by the economy, many of our families are also dealing with financial burdens caused by the death of their wage earner or because of medical expenses due to illness. Please help us make their holiday a memorable one!

The day after Thanksgiving will be the official start of our Annual Toy Drive! Each year we hear from parents that their holidays wouldn’t be the same without our help. Your donations will bring smiles to very special children as they feel the joy of the season made possible by your kindness and generosity. This year we will provide gifts to over 650 children!

How You Can Help
You can contribute to the happiness of our kids and bring the magic of the season to them by participating in our annual toy drive. Visit designated local Panera stores (locations below) where you will find trees with special New Hope for Kids gift request tags. Donations may be taken, unwrapped, back to the location from which you got your tag, or may be brought to our future New Hope building. We prefer to let parents and caregivers wrap their children’s gifts, so please bring your donations unwrapped! Gifts can be delivered to The Future Home of New Hope for Kids Building, 544 Mayo Ave. in Maitland during the following times:

  • Monday – Friday, December 9th – 13th 10:00am – 5:00pm
  • Saturday and Sunday, December 14th & 15th Noon – 4:00pm
  • Monday & Tuesday, December 16th – 19th 10:00am – 7:00pm

Have you ever thought about having a toy drive for New Hope for Kids with a group of friends or at your place of work? It can be a fun way to celebrate the season and help bring joy to the kids in our grief and wish programs! Perhaps you’d like to decorate a tree with our gift tags or place a collection box in your office. You can even schedule “Santa’s Trailer” to come to your business where employees can help “fill Santa’s trailer with hope!” Please send an email to Rhonda@newhopeforkids.org to learn more about this fun opportunity!
