New Hope for Kids was recently selected to receive Disney's "Helping Kids Shine" grant, the premier charitable giving program for the Walt Disney World Resort. This program provides funding for organizations or agency programs that focus on four specific ways of helping children: connecting with adults, constructive use of free time, character development, and compassion. Rick Allen, general manager of Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and fellow NHFK board member, presented a $25,000 check to staff and board members on May 18, 2010. Mr. Allen stated that this is the highest recognition in community relations awarded by Disney.
